All Saints', Newtown Linford
The new national lockdown is in place, as of Thursday 5 November. Our services in the church building are therefore suspended again until December. We hope to open for private prayer on Wednesday mornings starting this coming week. We continue with our main online service on Sunday at 10.30am on:
You can see recent services below.
Just because our building is closed for services does not mean we have shut down. We still stream daily prayer on Facebook at our sister church's page:
If you're here because you've seen some of our streamed services and want to know more, welcome! If there is anything we can do to help, maybe there are questions this site doesn't answer, please do contact the Rector: firstname.lastname@example.org
See our news page for more.
Christmas services and events
While there is still some uncertainty over what rules and regulations will be in place over Christmas, these are the services and events we expect to be running.
Online Christingle Service
Sunday 13 December at 10.30am
Collect your Christingle bag (from a location in the village to be confirmed) during the week before and tune in at 10.30am to make your own Christingle at the service on 13 December. You’ll need to supply your own orange but everything else will be in the bag and explained during the service. This will include carols, prayers and a link to donate to The Children's Society, helping them to continue their work with disadvantaged children.
Light a Candle
Saturday 19 December, 12 noon - 5pm
For most of this year the church building has had to remain closed – either because of the building work or lockdown. On Saturday 19 December it will be open through the afternoon if you would like to come and light and candle in memory of someone you’ll be missing at Christmas. At 5pm a special ‘Remembering at Christmas’ service put together by all the churches in the local area will be streamed on our Facebook page to help and support all those whose Christmas will be marked by that sense of loss, whether recent or longstanding.
Sunday 20 December at 6.30pm
A celebration of Christmas through nine readings, carols and choir pieces, featuring members of the Newtown Linford Choral Society. As far as we know at the moment, communal singing will still be restricted, so if you want to join in with the familiar melodies (or even the odd harmony) and words, you’ll need to do so from the comfort of your own home. Turn off the lights, light up a few candles (do so safely) and enjoy the traditional format in a new way.
Online Crib Service
Christmas Eve at 4pm
An opportunity to put the story of the birth of Jesus back at the heart of your family Christmas celebrations. For all ages, but particularly appropriate for children, as we rejoice at God’s message of love and rescue.
Christmas Eve at 11.30pm
This service, seeing in Christmas Day with a celebration of Holy Communion, will be held in church. It will be subject to constraints on numbers required because of social distancing measures, we can hold a maximum of 30 people, so please reserve your place in advance on our church website. If we become fully booked, we will look at options for an extra service in the building for those unable to attend at Midnight.
Christmas Day at 10.30am
On Christmas Day, there will be an online Celebration service streamed in the usual way on our Facebook page. Because we know people’s schedules for the day vary enormously – whether you’re up at 5am with presents, or focussed on the Queen’s Speech at 3pm – the service will be available all day for you to watch and participate in.
Despite the current closure of the church building, we are delighted to announce that we have been presented with the Eco Church Bronze award by A Rocha. This is testament to the hard work put in primarily by Jane Woolmer and reflects initiatives in both practical and spiritual aspects of church life.
Usually the church is open every day Monday - Saturday roughly 10am - 5pm.
However during the current crisis our church, like all other Anglican churches, will remain closed until government advice changes.
Our services on Sunday are at 8am (every other Sunday) and 10.30am every week.
You are welcome to contact us with any questions about booking weddings or baptisms, information about services, the history or the ongoing life of the church.
